The chill factor…

December 7, 2009

…is going to chatter my bones! Seriously, it’s pretty darn frightening out there. The high today is 27, and it’s supposed to snow for 3 days. Woohoo– (sarcasm) And yes, I did make another ‘cold weather’ reference as this post’s title.

This weekend was filled with festivities and friends, food and fun… and I can only assume that streak will continue 🙂 My butt feels a little better from Saturday’s fall. It’s all good… and so is a little ‘fu:

Last night, I made the mother & brother some oven roasted chicken and myself some garlic-teryaki tofu! Along side some delicious roasted bnut squash and sweet taters! On a bed of spinach, naturally.

And for dessert-

That tea taste like apple cider, I swear. Sugar free apple cider, that is. Very good.

Yesterday at the grocery store, I thought I’d pick up a  new breakfast cereal (and it was on sale, too!)-

Nature’s Path Optimum Cereal, Cranberry Ginger 😉 The name sounds promising, right?

Unfortunately, I was let down… It wasn’t a bad cereal, I was just expecting so much more flavor. I liked the texture and would like the taste if it was labeled as what it tasted like- ‘Wheaty-bran cereal’… Thank goodness Mr. Banana helped me out.

Now I’m snacking on another new product-

with cucumbers! Athenos Roasted Garlic Hummus definitely has a strong garlic taste that I enjoy… for a few bites. Then I become overwhelmed. I prefer original hummus. I love the new packaging, though! Another bonus- 3.99 for a big tub!

Digression (…like my tag-line says, the rantings of an orange oddity!)

I’d like to take a little time to discuss education. Random, huh? Quite the contrary, actually.

Whether you are in high school, college, grad school, or are out there living your life as a big bad working citizen, you must realize how lucky you are. Sure, your teachers and professors are ‘out to get you’ with a plethora of paperwork… but be thankful for that. They teach you  because they want to, and we learn because we have to. But instead of ‘having’ to, we should desire to. We should want to.

As a nation, we are so incredibly fortunate to have the natural born right to education. Many influential people in our nation’s history fought for their education, and we take it for granted. We fail to realize how lucky we really are!

With each day of school, each required English book, each page of notes.. we feed our intellect, our futures. As tedious a task school may seem, we really must take advantage of the free education. College isn’t free because further education IS important. We pay  because we want to have a successful life. Many cannot afford the tuition and all the fees that follow, so if you plan on or are attending college, don’t let it go to waste. Don’t neglect your education. Please. Your brain has been there for you from the start and will always have your back… To put it simply:

Diligent student + school = one big, bright future

So, next time you want to blow off your homework, don’t. Be strong and considerate of your future and all that you can be. School is cool, man 😉

Yeah, I don’t like Cheesecake Factory much either, but those lettuce wraps were amazing! So, I have to give them props for letting me tweak their recipe a bit to create something even better than the original. 😉

As for the Spiced Pumpkin Pie Cliff, I couldn’t find it anywhere either! However, I was in a mall over the weekend and stumbled into a GNC because my stomach was starting to grumble. Knowing that they carried energy bars, I assumed they would have some sort of healthy, vegan bar. Sure enough, I found the seasonal Cliffs there! I was so happy to find the Spiced Pumpkin Pie flavor! I don’t know of any other places that carry them. Maybe Whole Foods? I found the other flavors at a Kroger. Hope this helps!

true story: I am currently rocking leggings, fleece pants, two pairs of socks, a thermal shirt, sweatshirt, and my nose face. Yeah, it’s not warm in CT either. wah 😦

great digression, lovie. Thanks for putting things in to perspective and making me realize how silly I am for complaining about all my work lately. I am fortunate to be blessed with the opportunity to have so many papes to whine about 😉
