Latkes, Latkes up the kazoo!

Wow. I just hopped into my pajamas after an extremely necessary shower. This evening, at the Jewish Community Center, I prepared and fried my body weight in latkes (potato pancakes). Have you ever friend anything? It’s actually quite frightening… not just the oodles of shortening used to fry those suckers, but they splatter so violently! Β The latkes are for the Jewish Food and Arts Festival this weekend… Mazel tov! They sell like hot cakes! (pun intended)… Then I went with my friend to help her ask this fella to Winter Formal! It was insanely fun… I sprinted up a hill with hail hitting my face!

When I got home from school, I ate this perfect pearIMG_5991… and before heading off to the JCC, I prepared this suprisingly scrumptious salad…IMG_5997(whole head of organic romaine, few handfuls of spinach, garbanzos, avocado, peas, crushed ‘Food Should Taste Good’ Sweet Tater’ chips, and an olive-balsamic vinegar dressing)

it was devoured.

I proceeded to mix one of favorite my canned buddies of beta-carotene with some stevia, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and pp spice and enjoyed a few spoonfuls of non-bake pumpkin pie for dessert… I plan to use it in oatmeal in the morning (swoooon)

    I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten more pumpkin in the past two weeks than anyone should. I can’t help myself – ’tis the season! Let’s just hope I don’t follow the same trend around christmas time and do the same thing with gingerbread cookies πŸ˜‰

    Did somebody say latkes?! I love latkes! Especially with apple sauce and sour cream yummm. My dad makes the best ones πŸ˜‰ I definitely find myself eating lots of pumpkin and winter squashes.

    Let’s see.. Thanksgiving my family is invited over to our friends’ home. Actually, it’s going to be really exciting because he’s inviting some influential clientele to discuss my culinary “talents” and perhaps open some doors. I need something to wow them! I was thinking of a recipe I have for Jerk-spiced pumpkin pie.. but I also want to make an entree.

    Hahaha, I love doing that with pumpkin! Sometimes I add unsweetened cocoa powder and a bit extra stevia for a faux chocolate pumpkin pie πŸ˜‰ I love orange foods at all times, but especially in the Fall πŸ™‚

    Suprisingly, I haven’t had that many orange foods lately – but that will probably change in the next couple days πŸ˜‰

    For this Thanksgiving my mom is making all the normal goods; 2 turkeys! (one roasted, one deep fried), stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed taters, mashed sweet taters, gravy….and there’s gotta be more.

    plus you can’t forget the pies – apple and pumpkin of course!
